Well as some of you know I am busy with several projects, one of which is to finally finish my college degree. I have been taking online courses with the intent of getting an Energy and Environmental Management degree. It's been interesting! This months courses are all about American Politics. Each week I am required to write about the topic so that the professor sees that I get the data. I hate politics, always have...but am acing the course! I'm sure my aversion comes from my natural instinct to stay away from conflict. I don't like to listen to others grumble or rant about something that they've heard and not researched or had experience with.
I have a brother-in-law who rants (and I do mean rants) about every little thing he hears about, whether its verified or not. He perceives injustices and conspiracies everywhere. Its a wonder he can be happy at all. My dad rants to, but he's on a complete other level. Even my guy likes to talk about politics, but I've pretty much warned him to not bring it up with me anymore because all it does is make me ill. So I guess being surrounded by opinions is why I'm so careful not to bring them up!
I have strong political views, and mostly they deal with ethics and working within a plan to accomplish good things. You could say that is also a way of life for me. Do you remember the old saying, "If you can't say anything good about someone/thing, don't say anything at all." I really believe that, but with a twist. "If you can't say anything good about someone, don't say anything, but examine it thoroughly and be prepared to do something positive about it."
